OBJECTIVE

To build Australia's own EV charging management platform. EVIQ is an Australian EV charging technology company creating an open, white-label Charge Station Management System (CSMS) and driver app that any charge point operator, energy retailer or distribution network can adopt and brand as their own. Every major CSMS on the market is built overseas, with roadmaps that leave little room for Australian grid integration, data sovereignty or local support. Hello Again is EVIQ's product, design and engineering partner, responsible for the platform end to end: the OCPP 2.0.1 backend, the operator console, and the mobile app drivers use to find a charger, plug in and pay.

UNIQUE CHALLENGES

EV charging sits where hardware, energy and software meet. The platform has to speak OCPP 2.0.1 to chargers from different manufacturers, keep sessions and payments consistent when a charger drops offline, and stay ready for what comes next: roaming with other networks via OCPI, dynamic tariffs driven by energy retailers and distribution networks, and vehicle-to-grid. It also has to be truly white-label. Each operator runs on their own isolated infrastructure with their own branding, tariffs and reporting, while the driver experience stays simple: find a charger, scan, plug in, charge.

TECH SOLUTION

A fully API-driven architecture in which the backend, the operator console, the driver app and third-party integrations are all decoupled. The backend is written in TypeScript and runs as services on AWS, with Terraform-provisioned, isolated environments for each customer. The CSMS console is a React web app that gives operators live visibility of charge points, EVSEs, charging sessions, faults, OCPP logs, tariffs, drivers and RFID cards. The driver app is built with React Native and Expo, with Google and Apple sign-in, Stripe payments, live port status and full session control. Monitoring runs through Sentry, and the roadmap includes OCPI roaming, DNSP integration and AI-assisted fault diagnosis from charger logs.

THE OUTCOME

EVIQ is being built alongside a foundation customer, an Australian charge point operator migrating several hundred public chargers onto the platform, with go-live planned for early 2027. Beyond that first rollout, EVIQ is positioned as the open, locally built layer between chargers, operators, energy retailers and the grid, with a vehicle-to-grid roadmap in development with Australian energy partners.
